yasmin Ahmad

Announcing the end of this blog, and the beginning of a new one.

salam all :]

Yasmin Ahmad  (January 7, 1958 - July 25, 2009) was a film directorwriter and scriptwriter fromMalaysia and was also the executive creative director at Leo Burnett Kuala Lumpur. Her television commercials and films are well-known in Malaysia for their humour, heart and love that crosses cross-cultural barriers, in particular her ads for Petronas, the national oil and gas company. Her works have won multiple awards both within Malaysia and internationally. However in Malaysia itself, her films are highly controversial since they depict events and relationships seen as forbidden by social conservatives, especially hard-line interpretations of Islam..

i had read this book . Yasmin Ahmad's Film.

yasmin Ahmad left a vibrant legacy and it still strange to talk about her in the past tense. in order to deal with his grief, Amir Muhammad fellow Malaysian  filmarker and friend watched anew her sixth features-length film, RABUN, SEPET, GUBRA, MUKHSIN, MUALLAF, TALETIME.as well as her most most popular commercial. neither an orbituary nor of conventional work of film critism, this book was written just a month after a funeral and is Amir's personal look at the stories  but with quite a tangents of his own.

chatty  and innovative, Yasmin Ahmad's Film can be devoured not only by established fan but new comments to her work. it is also tribute to one's of Malaysian mos most amazing daughters.

love to watch it. i had watched dis film for couples times. never said bored! :]

As you can see from the bunting above, "Muallaf" opens in Singapore in about 11 days' time. Faced with a distribution budget of miniscule proportions, Thomas Chia, the director of Lighthouse Pictures, has been working 24/7 to spread the news about our little film.

If you're on facebook, just type "Muallaf" in the search box, and it'll take you to this page. Through this, the ever resourceful Thomas Chia sent out an appeal for help to distribute "Muallaf" flyers.

another film, MUKHSIN. whoa.. i had bought the Cd's. only to watch that mv by myself. hahaha. semangat

and now, i goona to miss her advertisement for raya. haha. still remember the petronas advert. where the 7 children were seeking for a cow juz only to satisfied her mother. . :]
most of her art were brought big impact to us. she make us to think n learn something about dat right.
whatever assumption of her/him , i'm still her fan till now :]
